The Story Behind Chaos & Kristine Designs

"Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness." ~Anni Albers

I’ve loved arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. From my childhood Crayola crayons and markers to my beloved Graphic 45 papers today, creativity has always been part of my life. In middle school, I dreamed of writing and illustrating books like Dr. Seuss, but in high school, I followed my head more than my heart. The love of art never went away—it just took a back seat while I pursued undergraduate and graduate studies, a fellowship, and a career in healthcare. But that creative spark? It never left.

Everything changed in 2016 when I stumbled across a YouTube video of a mini album. I was hooked immediately! I still have my very first attempt tucked away in my craft room. Eventually, I built the courage to start a YouTube channel and taught myself how to record and edit videos—all part of the chaos and fun of learning something new!

Over the years, I’ve designed for several paper crafting companies and suppliers, including FotoBella (2020–2022), Graphic 45 (2021–2023, and currently), Elizabeth Craft Designs (2023), and Scrap 'N Create (2023–2024). Along the way, I’ve also designed my own products, many of which feature in my design team projects.

When I launched my business, my goal was to fill a void in the paper crafting market. As an avid mini album maker, I focus on creating unique covers, embellishments, and storage solutions for albums. I also expanded my digital tutorials and mini album kits to help new makers learn the joys—and quirks—of crafting their own albums.

Teaching others to turn paper into something beautiful is my favorite part of what I do. I want every crafter, from beginner to advanced, to feel empowered—not overwhelmed. Crafting is about making art from the heart, grounding yourself in the moment, and embracing the chaos along the way. I hope you’ll join me in the fun!

Happy crafting! ~Kristine
